Photographer of Thoughts
"The best camera you have is the one with you" - Chase Jarvis
Happy Friday everyone!
Lately I have had a number of people asking what's the best way to get into photography. Honestly...just get out there and shoot. You don't need the most expensive camera. "The best camera you have, is the one with you"- Chase Jarvis. These words could not be more true.
If photography is is something you're passionate about, go for it. Build your portfolio, find what type of photography your passionate about, find what type of photography you're good at and hit the ground running. If your images are powerful enough, you are going to get noticed. So get out there and start shooting.
I really started to get into photography when I was a freshman at Whitworth University. I made it a point to take my camera everywhere I went. As I started taking more and more pictures I noticed the quality and composition getting better and better. Yeah, there were some terrible photos, but every once in a while there was an image that stood out from all the rest. I began to become more passionate about capturing a picture that spoke to me and stood out to me.
Pick up up a camera, doesn't matter what kind. Just get out and shoot.
Have a a great weekend👌🏽
I am embarking on a different journey, a different adventure. I am calling it the photographer of thoughts...
Lately I have been overcome with contemplation and refletion and what it is that makes me as a photographer stand out amongst the masses. I have decided to start blogging to better organize my thoughts, set my goals, and hone in on who I am as a photographer/videographer.
As I look at all the photography gurus on the social media platforms (Instagram, facebook, twitter, and snapchat) I can not help but wonder, "What is it about their photos that makes them special, different and ultimately more popular than others"
I keep coming to the realization that they have certain things in common, they have a theme, they have a passion that is noticibly different than the clutter of unsuccessful photographers all over social media. So I am starting this blog to better myself not only as a photographer/videographer but as person in general.
Ultimately this blog-adventure I am starting is for me but it is also for the people that chose to view my website. I want people to get to know me better. It will be a great way for me to connect with my clients/friends or just any passerby who enjoys my work. I am incredibly greatful for you.
